What it's known for
Boston is the capital of Massachusetts and a cultural and financial centre of New England. Founded in 1630 by English Puritans, it played a central role in the American Revolution, with the Boston Massacre, the Boston Tea Party and the Battle of Bunker Hill. Its marathon, first run in 1897, is the oldest annual marathon in the world.
