How to play

Find places on a 3D globe as precisely as you can. Here's how a round works, how points are scored, and a few tips.

A round, step by step

  1. Read the place to find, for example Ankara, Türkiye. On Hard you only see the city's name.
  2. Turn the globe by dragging it, and zoom in with a pinch or the scroll wheel.
  3. Tap to drop your pin, tap again to move it, then press Lock in. If you prefer, choose press and hold in the settings: hold until the ring fills and your pin locks in.
  4. See the real place, how far off you were and your points. After the last round you get your total and every round's score.

Scoring

Each round is worth up to 1,000 points. The closer your pin, the more you score. On the whole-world map:

  • Right on the spot: 1,000 points
  • 500 km away: about 780 points
  • 1,000 km away: about 610 points
  • 2,000 km away: about 370 points
  • 5,000 km away: about 80 points

Smaller areas score more strictly: a guess 300 km off is good on the world map but weak in Türkiye. With a time limit on, you can also turn on the speed bonus: up to 250 extra points for answering fast, and only when your guess is close.

Difficulty

  • Easy: famous places only, and the country is shown.
  • Medium: every place, with the country shown.
  • Hard: every place, with only the city's name. The country appears when the answer is revealed.

Tips

  • Find the country first, then zoom in on the right part of it.
  • Many capitals aren't the biggest city: Canberra, not Sydney; Ankara, not Istanbul; Ottawa, not Toronto.
  • Turn on country borders in the settings to see where one country ends and the next begins.
  • Coasts, big rivers and lakes make good landmarks: many capitals sit beside one.
  • The daily challenge has no clock, so take your time.
