Tapital is a small geo-guessing game. This is what it keeps, and why.
Playing without an account
Your nickname, settings and daily results stay in your browser; the server keeps your daily challenge guesses (without anything that identifies you) to score them. While a room is open, it holds the nicknames of its players; rooms are deleted an hour after everyone leaves. The game's statistics keep each room's host and winner nicknames, and count finished solo and daily games without anything that identifies you.
With an account
Your account holds your email address, your display name, the photo and status emoji you choose to add, and your Google account ID. It also keeps your records: daily challenge results, and the solo and room games you play while signed in (score, region, date). The email is used only to sign you in. Other players can see your display name, photo and status, and your score on the daily leaderboard, never your email. Nothing is sold or shared with anyone.
You sign in with Google, which gives Tapital your name and email address, nothing else.
Groups
In a group, the other members see your daily challenge scores (each round and the total), your monthly standings and your badges. A group's chat is only open to its members. Anyone with a group's invite link can see its name and how many members it has.
Chat
Messages in a room's chat are kept until the room closes. The chat on the home page keeps the latest 50 messages, with the sender's display name, photo and status; anyone visiting can read them. Admins can delete messages and stop an account from posting.
Language
The language you pick is kept in your browser, along with a copy of that language's words so the next visit opens in it straight away.
Cookies
One cookie keeps you signed in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
Where it's kept
On Cloudflare, which runs the game. The globe's satellite images load from EOX's map servers, which see your IP address like any website you visit.
Deleting your data
On your account page, Delete account removes your account and everything saved with it, straight away. Clearing your browser's site data removes what's kept on your device.
